All the world is a stage… and you can have a part to play! 

This series of workshops for teens aged 12 to 18 explores the works of William Shakespeare and how to present a stage play, culminating with a production of an original play inspired by Twelfth Night.

Auditions

June 7th, 2:30-5:00 p.m.
First, an introduction to the world of the Bard, then, auditions for those who wish to join the cast and crew of our original production! Budding actors can also audition for the play, which will be performed on Friday, July 27th and Saturday, July 28th.
 

Do you speak Shakespeare?

June 14th, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
It’s time to have a little fun… dive into scenes from some of Shakespeare’s best plays.
 

Shakespeare in the 21st Century

June 21st, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Can you step into the characters and situations in these scenes and make them your own? Through these fun theatre improv games, we decode the timeless stories and themes in Shakespeare’s plays.

 
You have to talk the talk and walk the walk...

June 28th, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
The words on a page are only part of the puzzle… in order to bring a character to life in any play, you must use how you walk, talk and even breathe to add depth to your role.

 
...and they fight!

July 5th, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Learn how to be safe when fighting on stage and how to make every blow look real when it’s not.

With costume and set pieces, the empty stage becomes a world unto itself.

Cheating the right way!

July 19th, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
The best actors are great observers—and that means learning from the greatest actors and borrowing from the best performances.

From start to finish...

July 26th, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Learn the basics of a stage production, from picking a script, choosing actors, getting the word out and getting ready for curtains.

WPL Players presents… Twelfth Night Lite


Places please! After weeks of rehearsal, our intrepid teens are ready to perform a short play inspired by William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, written and directed by Sam Nash of A Play on Swords. Attend one or both of the performances, which are free of charge, open to all and are a wonderful introduction to Shakespeare for children aged 8 years and older.

July 27th, 2:30 – 3:15 p.m.
This performance will be held at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, located at 1400 Texas Dr., Weatherford, TX 76086

July 28th, 2:30-3:15 p.m.
This performance will be held at the Weatherford Public Library.
