1. How do I get to the library?

The library is located at 1014 Charles Street in Weatherford.

From Interstate 20: Take exit 406. Turn right onto S. Bowie Dr. After approximately .9 miles, you will come to a stop sign. Turn right onto Charles Street. The library is ahead on the left.

From the Parker County Courthouse: Head south on S. Main Street. At Russell St. (approximately .7 miles), turn right. Russell Street ends at Charles Street. Turn left. The library is ahead on the right.

2. What kind of identification do I need to get a library card?

A photo ID and proof of your current residence address are required. A current driver’s license or state identification card meets both requirements. You may prove your current address with a voter’s registration card, printed checks, a utility bill, an auto insurance card, or a lease agreement.

3. Does the Library have Wi-Fi?

Yes. The library's wi-fi network is accessible to anyone with a laptop computer and an 802.11b wireless card or higher. Wi-fi is accessible in the library and in the parking lot spaces closest to the building. Outside access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, signal permitting.

4. Is it possible to download audio books from the library website?

Weatherford Public Library is looking into downloadable audiobooks from several vendors. However, at this time we don’t offer any downloadable audiobooks. Should Weatherford Public Library begin offering downloadable audiobooks, we will make an announcement on our News and Events email list. 5. Does the library provide tax forms?

Weatherford Public Library receives a limited number of tax forms from the Internal Revenue Service each year. However, you will be able to access and print any reproducible forms from the IRS website at the library.

6. What is the fee to get a library card?

Nothing. Library cards are free to all residents of the State of Texas.

7. What is the fee for Internet access?

Internet access is free. Weatherford Public Library also has computers with popular word processing, spreadsheet and other applications installed and available for public use at no charge.

8. How old do I have to be to get a library card?

There is no age limit on library cards.

9. How do I get a TexShare card?

You must be eligible for a TexShare card.

Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age.

Must have a library card with us for six months and have used it at least once.

Must be in good standing with our library.

If you meet the requirements please talk to a library clerk during your next visit.

10. What is the TexShare Card Program?

You can apply for a TexShare card which allows you to borrow materials from other TexShare participating libraries throughout Texas.

11. How can I check my account online?

You may check your account online by going to our catalog at http://catalog.wpltx.com/

Click the patron account tab at the top of the page and enter your Barcode Number and Password.

Barcode Number is the full number on the back of your library card. (This will be on the front of some older cards.)

12. Does the Library have a public fax?

No.

13. Does the Library have a copy machine?

Yes. There is a charge of ten cents per page for black and white copies and twenty-five cents per page for color copies.

14. Can I renew my library materials over the phone?

Yes. Just call us at 817-598-4150.

We must have your library card number or driver license number to renew items over the phone.

15. Can I renew my library materials on the Internet?

Yes. Just visit our catalog at http://catalog.wpltx.com/

Click the patron account tab at the top of the page and it will ask for your Barcode Number and Password.

Barcode Number is the full number on the back of your library card. (This will be on the front of some older cards.)

16. My materials are late. How much will my fine be?

Fines are $.15 per day for each book, and $1.00 a day for each video . There is a $5.00 cap on each item you have out.

17. Can I return my materials after the Library is closed?

Yes. There is a 24 - hour drive through drop for books and audiovisual (videos, CDs, books on tape, books on CD) materials on the side of our building.

Just drop off your materials in the proper drop.

18. How can I pay my fine?

Just visit the library and talk to one of our library clerks at the circulation desk. Please, do NOT leave money in a book and drop it in our drop boxes. This can cause complications in paying your fine properly.

19. Can I use a debt or credit card to pay off my fine?

No. At this time we only take cash or check.

20. What is an Interlibrary Loan?

An Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a loan of materials from another library. A reference librarian can help you order an item from another library that we may not have in our collection. There is a return postage fee on items equal to the amount of postage required to send the item from the lending library.

21. How much does an Interlibrary Loan cost?

There is a return postage fee on items equal to the amount of postage required to send the item from the lending library. This charge will vary depending on the weight of the item, but is usually approximately $3.00 for a single book of average weight. Heavier than average books may cost significantly more to ship. This fee must be paid when the material is checked out.

22. How do I renew my Interlibrary Loan?

You must talk to a library clerk to renew your ILL. Just call the library at 817-598-4150 or come visit us. We will check and see when the item is due back to the lending library and see if we can renew it for you. More information about ILL's

23. What are the fines for a late Interlibrary Loan?

The fine is $1.00 a day per item .

24. What do I do if I get home and an item is already damaged?

Call the library at 817-598-4150 and talk to a library clerk. Give them your library card number, and tell them which book is damaged. Give them a detailed description of the damage to the book.

25. What do I do if I get home and the DVD/CD/VHS wasn't in the case?

Call the library at 817-598-4150. Explain the problem to a library clerk. Return the empty case back to the library as soon as possible.
