Power Cost Adjustment
Power Cost Adjustment Factor
Natural Gas Prices Cause Utility Bills to Rise and Fall
Weatherford Electric (City of Weatherford) utility customers have noticed increases and decreases in their electric bills. Power cost adjustment charges, necessary to cover the cost of buying natural gas, and other fuels to provide energy for homes and businesses have risen.

Sharon Hayes, former Director of Utilities, said the city closely monitors fuel and power costs, and only makes adjustments when market conditions warrant changes. We have worked very hard to insulate ourselves against these increases, but this is an issue being faced by every utility in the country. It is important for city utility customers to know that their hometown electric provider continues to offer reliable service at reasonable rates.

These dramatic changes in fuel costs exceed the amount budgeted for fuel supplies and purchased power. To ensure our customers that we’ll be able to provide adequate utility resources to meet their demand, we’ve had to modify our fuel adjustment charges.

Costs are Passed Onto the Consumer When Wholesale Prices Exceed 1.5 Cents/kWh
The city actually handles variations in fuel expenditures through the Power Cost Adjustment Factor (PCAF) incorporated into customer’s utility bills. Using available information on the cost of natural gas and the price of wholesale power, Weatherford Electric will compute a new Power Cost Adjustment Factor rate each month.
