1. How do I get to the library?

The library is located at 1014 Charles Street in Weatherford.

From Interstate 20: Take exit 406. Turn right onto S. Bowie Dr. After approximately .9 miles, you will come to a stop sign. Turn right onto Charles Street. The library is ahead on the left.

From the Parker County Courthouse: Head south on S. Main Street. At Russell St. (approximately .7 miles), turn right. Russell Street ends at Charles Street. Turn left. The library is ahead on the right.

2. What kind of identification do I need to get a library card?

Photographic identification issued by a government or educational institution is required to open an account and must be shown when the application is made. For example: a current driver’s license or state identification card. City residence verification is required to open a no charge account. Acceptable forms of verification: government issued ID (must be current), electric bill, water bill, cable bill, natural gas bill, or lease.

3. Do you accept material donations?

Thank you for your generosity, but we are not accepting donations at this time. Please do not place donations in our book/media drops or outside our doors.

4. Does the library provide tax forms?

Weatherford Public Library receives a limited number of tax forms from the Internal Revenue Service each year. However, you will be able to access and print any reproducible forms from the IRS website at the library.

5. Does the Library have Wi-Fi?

Yes. The library's wi-fi network is accessible to anyone with a laptop computer and an 802.11b wireless card or higher. Wi-fi is accessible in the library and in the parking lot spaces closest to the building. Outside access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, signal permitting.

6. Is it possible to download audiobooks from the library's website?

The Weatherford Public Library is a member of the North Texas Libraries on the Go consortium and that gives our cardholders access to several thousand downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks.

The website for the North Texas Libraries on the Go catalog is www.ntexlibrariesonthego.org. When you sign in on that site, your PIN will be the last four digits of the telephone number that's listed on your library account, unless you have changed that PIN by using the online catalog account management features.

Searching for and checking out items is very similar to using e-commerce sites like Amazon.com. There are also a number of helpful tutorials on the site that show you the download process step-by-step and there is also an interactive support tool that is useful in getting started.

7. What is the fee to get a library card?

If you live inside or own property inside of Weatherford city limits, there is no charge to open an account at Weatherford Public Library. There is an annual $50 non-resident fee if you live outside of the City of Weatherford.

8. What is the fee for Internet access?

Internet access is available free of charge for city residents. There is an annual $50 non-resident fee if you live outside the city limits. Weatherford Public Library also has computers with popular word processing, spreadsheet and other applications installed and available for use.

9. How old do I have to be to get a library card?

There is no age limit on library cards. For minor children (age 17 and under), a parent or guardian must complete the application form. The parent or guardian must have an account in good standing to open an account for a child.

10. What is the TexShare Card Program?

You can apply for a TexShare card which allows you to borrow materials from other TexShare participating libraries throughout Texas.

11. How do I get a TexShare card?

You must be eligible for a TexShare card.

Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age.

Must have a library card with us for six months and have used it at least once.

Must be in good standing with our library.

If you meet the requirements please talk to a library clerk during your next visit.

12. How can I check my account online?

You may check your account online by going to our catalog at http://catalog.wpltx.com/ Click the 'my account' tab at the top of the page and enter your Barcode Number and Password. Barcode Number is the full number on the back of your library card. (This will be on the front of some older cards.) Please contact the library at 817-598-4150 if you have not registered your password yet.

13. Does the Library have a public fax service?

Yes. Please speak with a library clerk at the circulation desk. They will be able to help you with this service. There is a charge of $1.00 for each page you fax (no charge for cover page).

14. Does the Library have a copy machine?

Yes. There is a charge of ten cents per page for black and white copies and twenty-five cents per page for color copies.

15. Can I renew my library materials over the phone?

Yes. Just call us at 817-598-4150.

We must have your library card number or driver license number to renew items over the phone.

16. Can I renew my library materials on the Internet?

17. My materials are late. How much will my fine be?

As of October 1st, 2020 Weatherford Public Library has gone FINE FREE! This means that we will no longer be charging overdue fines on items that belongs to Weatherford Public Library when they are turned in after their due date. Items that belong to other PCLA libraries will still have late fines applied. Charges for damaged items or items not returned to us will still apply.

18. Can I return my materials after the Library is closed?

Yes. There is a 24 - hour drive through drop for books and audiovisual (videos, CDs, books on tape, books on CD) materials on the side of our building.

Just drop off your materials in the proper drop.

19. Can I use a debit or credit card to pay for damaged or lost items?

Yes, we accept both debit and credit card payments in person. Please talk to one of our library clerks at the circulation desk. Credit card payments can not be taken over the phone. The charge must be over $5.00.

20. What is an Interlibrary Loan?

An Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a loan of materials from another library. A reference librarian can help you order an item from another library that we may not have in our collection. There is a return postage fee on items equal to the amount of postage required to send the item from the lending library.

21. How much does an Interlibrary Loan cost?

There is a return postage fee on items equal to the amount of postage required to send the item from the lending library. This charge will vary depending on the weight of the item, but is usually approximately $3.00 for a single book of average weight. Heavier than average books may cost significantly more to ship. This fee must be paid when the material is checked out.

22. How do I renew my Interlibrary Loan?

You must talk to a library clerk to renew your ILL. Just call the library at 817-598-4150 or come visit us. We will check and see when the item is due back to the lending library and see if we can renew it for you. More information about ILL's

23. What do I do if I get home and an item is already damaged?

Call the library at 817-598-4150 and talk to a library clerk. Give them your library card number, and tell them which book is damaged. Give them a detailed description of the damage to the book.

24. What do I do if I get home and the DVD/CD wasn't in the case?

Call the library at 817-598-4150. Explain the problem to a library clerk. Return the empty case back to the library as soon as possible.
