What are the requirements if I want to buy or open a food establishment?

Please refer to the "Minimum Standards for Food Establishments" located under the tab, "Food Establishments". A set of plans will need to be submitted to the Consumer Health Department for review for new or extensive remodel. Complete the Food Establishment Plan Review Packet and Food Permit Application and return both documents to the Consumer Health Department. Incomplete plan review packets will delay the review process. The owner or contractor will need to make an appointment with the regulatory authority for the Final Health Inspections. Once the final inspection has passed, the owner or contractor may apply for a Health Permit. (The fee will depend on the classification of the food establishment.) The final inspection approval and payment of the Health Permit must be made prior to the issuance of the CO (Certificate of Occupancy). The CO is required prior to occupying the new, existing, or remodeled food establishment.
