What are the requirements if I want to buy or open a food establishment?: Please refer to the "Minimum Standards for Food Establishments" located under the tab, "Food Establishments". A set of plans will need to be submitted to the Consumer Health Department for review for new or extensive remodel. Complete the Food Establishment Plan Review Packet and Food Permit Application and return both documents to the Consumer Health Department. Incomplete plan review packets will delay the review process. The owner or contractor will need to make an appointment with the regulatory authority for the Final Health Inspections. Once the final inspection has passed, the owner or contractor may apply for a Health Permit. (The fee will depend on the classification of the food establishment.) The final inspection approval and payment of the Health Permit must be made prior to the issuance of the CO (Certificate of Occupancy). The CO is required prior to occupying the new, existing, or remodeled food establishment.

1. What do I need to do to operate a mobile food unit?: Complete a Mobile Food Permit Application and return it to Consumer Health Department. Once the application has been received, regulatory authority will review and schedule the pre-opening inspection. After the pre-opening inspection is conducted and approved, a permit will be issued. An annual permit is $300.00.

4. What types of food establishments do not require a permit?: Establishments such as; Group Homes, Vending Machines, Facilities operated by non-profit organizations for their members, families, and invited guests. All other establishments will require a permit. If you need further assistance, please contact the Consumer Health Department.
