Our system will recognize your number if it is tied to your utility account. Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is the electric grid operator for ninety percent of of the state of Texas and manages the flow of electric power for more than 26 million customers. During grid emergencies, they may request voluntary conservation or require load shedding as a last resort. If they call for load shedding, all electric utilities are required to participate in order to stabilize the grid. ERCOT is regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Texas Legislature.
