What We Do:
Starting in early 2017 the City of Weatherford’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division (SWRD) began a brush recycling program.
In this program the SWRD picks up clean brush material (no lumber, furniture, appliances, metal, etc.) and stockpiles the material until a time the City would like to have the material ground and hauled off. The SWRD partners with a private company, The Organic Recycler (TOR), to come out to the City’s brush pad site and grind and haul off the brush material. For more information on what TOR does, feel free to visit their website at www.theorganicrecycler.com. Real Christmas trees should be added to bulk pick up stacks after Christmas (make sure to have your brush collection out by Monday at 7 am the week of your collection to ensure pick up).

Why We Do it:
The purpose of this program is to keep brush material out of the landfill, thus prolonging the life of the landfill. In addition, this allows the City to be better stewards to the environment by having the brush ground into mulch, which can then be used in gardens and flower beds to conserve soil moisture, improve fertility and health of the soil, reduce weed growth and enhance the visual appeal of the area.
