What We Do

The City Secretary is a statutory position mandated by State law and the City Charter, ensuring effective governance for the City of Weatherford. This office manages key functions, including the oversight of agendas and minutes for the Weatherford City Council and all Council-appointed boards, transparency in public information requests, and records management. Additionally, the City Secretary coordinates City elections, certifies TABC applications for local establishments, supports board and committee administration, and provides information for City Greenwood Cemetery inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

• Agenda and Minutes Management: Prepares agendas and minutes for the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Building and Standards Commission, and Zoning Board of Adjustment. Ensures that agendas and minutes for all other Council-appointed boards, commissions, and committees meet required standards.
• Proclamation Preparation: Drafts proclamations on behalf of the Mayor.
• Public Information: Upholds transparency by managing and producing documents in response to Public Information Requests.
• Records Management: Serves as the Records Management Officer for the City of Weatherford, ensuring proper handling and retention of records.
• Election Coordination: Contracts with Parker County Elections Administrator for all City elections.
• Board and Committee Administration: Manages service records for over 70 board, commission, and committee members. Issues Oaths of Office and tracks compliance with Open Government training per Texas Attorney General guidelines.
• Open Government Compliance: Ensures key City staff complete Open Government training.
• TABC Permitting: Certifies Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) applications for establishments within the Weatherford city limits. 
• Cemetery Information: Responds to inquiries and provides information regarding City Greenwood Cemetery.
